A defect would then cause the laser beam to “bounce” or “divert” off course and distort the result.
 Very high quality “optically pure glass” is required in 3D crystal engraving , often referred to as “Optical Glass”, so named because of the precise manufacturing process that is required to produce the required pure optical quality.
We also use a specialised in store 3D camera to generate a 3D photographic image of a person, couple or family which can then be engraved into a crystal block creating a beautiful life like image that lasts forever.

Few things generate the passion and emotion as a beautiful flawless engraved crystal. Sub-surface laser engraving is the process of engraving an image into a transparent solid material by focusing a laser into the surface to create small fractures. Such engraved materials are of high-grade optical quality. The SSLE process only really began in the 1990’s and has more recently become more cost effective and popular for the production of souvenirs, 3D image gifts, corporate awards and trophies. As children many of us played with small magnifying glasses to burn holes into paper. To do this we would carefully focus the sun’s rays into a tiny dot through the magnifying glass, and at the focal point the energy of light point was so high that the paper would start burning. The laser will also be pulsing and moving to and fro, forming layers of millions of these tiny oval cracks, building up a 3D image in the glass, much like forming a picture with pencil dots. the image created looks like a perfect sculpture within the glass block.
