Waterfall College is a section 21 company, not for profit, and is overseen by a Directorate team, who are charged with formulating policy and furthering the school's mission and directing strategic thinking and support to the Heads of School. The school is a tenant of the organisation which owns the land, bought by the organisation for the purposes of building a full educational pathway on one campus. The various sub-committees meet regularly and assist the Board and Heads in managing the school and providing guidance and wisdom when necessary. No team members (save for the management employed by the school) or trustees of the directorate receive remuneration of any nature from the school or any related entity, and serve on an entirely voluntary basis. Waterfall College aims to be an academic centre of excellence, developing responsible young adults who will bring value to their community. These scholarships provide financial assistance towards the admission costs of deserving candidates. We regret that Waterfall College does not currently offer sports or cultural scholarships. Waterfall College is a dynamic independent, co-educational day high school. The individual contribution of each academic staff member has built a reputation of academic excellence at Waterfall College. Qualified subject specialist teachers provide students with a breadth of knowledge. Small classes enable staff expertise to be optimally shared through discussion and debate, while engaging with every student every day to guide the learning. It is the preparation of students for life after school, plus the development of those skills beyond subject-specific knowledge, that makes an IEB school different. Being an independent body with international benchmarking, the IEB provides relevance, credibility and quality assurance. Great strides have been made on the technology front at Waterfall College, and more is to follow. A high speed wireless network has been installed, providing connectivity to all classrooms. Teachers combine online resources with traditional methods of instruction. Online submission and sharing of tasks will soon be a reality with the implementation of Google Classrooms. Waterfall College recognises students with colours and honours for performance in sporting achievements both inside and outside the school. The cultural portfolio has expanded significantly through the dedication of the school’s parent body. Five regular cultural activities are offered, plus a range of cultural events (eg High Tea) and outings for the students (eg Sound of Music). Waterfall College has a well-established Outdoor Programme. The HOPE Committee (Helping Other People Everywhere) is appointed each year to drive the important aspect of outreach at Waterfall College. The interaction with children from the iThemba Academy also provides a constant opportunity for community outreach. We develop young adults of distinction who are tolerant of individual differences and willing to make a positive contribution as they move towards excellence in their respective careers.
